Edit 01.12.09: I suppose I should put Twilight Series (c) Stephenie Meyer --------------------------------------------------------------------------- I read Twilight, and honestly, I do not understand the mass raving about it. On the cover of Twilight, the guy who plays Edward isn't even all beautiful like he's supposed to be, and I think he's really ugly. I mean, he looks CREEPY. I thought he was supposed to be pale but gorgeous. Sure. My main problems with this series are:
~Lack of an interesting plot ~Lack of characterization ~The fact that Edward seems like a pedophile ~The fact that Edward seems like a stalker ~The fact that one part of Edward is always desiring for Bella's blood ~The fact that Bella wishes to die and become a vampire ~The fact that Meyer has completely screwed up the concept of vampires... I mean, vampires do not: sparkle, eat animals and call themselves vegetarian. ~The fact that the book was an extraordinarily easy read, mainly because it was a horrible book ~The fact that it delusions girls into thinking they can find their soulmate instantly and at the age of 17 ~The discrepancy that Bella almost faints at the sight of blood but... wants to be a vampire? What?
I only read Twilight, not the rest of them but I heard that she has a baby at age 18 and that it EATS ITS WAY OUT OF HER!!! IT'S SICK!!!
And look, I'm not looking to offend you guys, but I'm allowed to express MY opinion. If you hate me because of it, then at least I can live with it knowing I spoke my mind and didn't remain mute. This is a free country, guys. I believe firmly that Stephenie Meyer's writing cannot be called literature.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------- Please, don't become a Twilight fangirl. There are better things in life to do. And in case you're about to read this and think I should get a life, please remember, that I'm just trying to save people from becoming obsessed and losing brain cells. --------------------------------------------------------------------------- EDIT 01.12.09
Right. So, I've been accused of actually wanting to burn the books. Understandable, given the stamp. But I want all of you who view this deviation to understand that I would NEVER burn a book. Even Twilight. Yes, I hate Twilight, but this stamp was somewhat of a joke.

Okay, by the way, apparently some of you can't read author's comments and took it too seriously...
No, no, I fully agree. I couldn't make it past Twilight, and I TRIED rereading in November, hoping it wasn't as bad as I really thought. Lord, was I wrong. Ugh. Couldn't even make it through the first chapter.
And yes, Edward is a stalker. His relationship with Bella is actually an abusive one, if you think about it. She doesn't seem to have a life outside of him and the Cullen family... WTF. What with the baby... Vampires are supposed to be barren, aren't they? So how in the hell could Edward father a child, regardless of whether she was human at that point or not?
GAWD, this series just confuzzles me.

You know, you could take your own advice of "If you can't say anything nice..." It was really "nice" of you to call me a twit.
The coughing bit was I didn't really want to cuss because I have watchers that probably wouldn't be pleased with me if I put the real words.
By the way, I'm not even 16, so you got that wrong, 3.7 GPA-person.
And guess what. I read tons of books. I have so many books I can't find room to put them all in my room, which is fairly large. And I was able to read Nancy Drew in the first grade, for your information.
You don't have to be so insulting about it. The stamp was intended to be humorous; I don't really think the books should be burned...
And how do you know I was going to try anything? Are you clairvoyant or something? Because I'm not going to go off on you and call you a bunch of names like a two-year old.
So maybe the information I received was wrong. It came from one of my friends who HAS read all of them, and she's a very trustworthy person (heh, maybe she forgot what age Bella was, she said "like 18 and it practically eats its way out of her") After reading Twilight, I really didn't feel like forcing myself to read the others.
And yes, I actually read all of that, and I found it very insulting. Calling me a twit and telling me I obviously haven't read good books is not the best way to get me to change my mind, or make me stop voicing my opinion.

Yeah, and there was this really rude flamer I had to respond to. He pointed out all the reasons that my reasons were wrong and called me a twit and told me that I obviously hadn't ever read a good book in my life, and more stuff...
